Urban Angels Community Kitchen is a platform for bringing the community together, creating and distributing a ready stock of nutritious frozen meals for people who need support in this way.

The opportunity
Urban Angels are seeking a casual Food Services Assistant to join the team situated at the IFYS Kawana Hub Specialist Homeless Service.
The Kawana Hub Specialist Homeless Service is a 68-bed short term emergency housing solution, available to residents of the Sunshine Coast that are experiencing homelessness.
The Food Services Assistant will support the provision of three meals a day, ensuring hygiene, health and safety standards are met, and providing friendly and non-judgmental service to all residents of the program. This role is part of a team of rostered Kitchen Support staff, working alongside a chef, other IFYS staff and volunteers.

Key requirements:
- Daily operations of the kitchen including customer service, food preparation, restocking and receiving delivered goods, accurate administration
- Assist chef of the day in food preparations
- Support residents to access refreshments and foods during the day
- Work alongside volunteers in the delivery of catering service to residents
- Train and supervise volunteers involved in the kitchen
- Cleaning and sanitising dining area and kitchen throughout the day
- Assist with ensuring that the food served and the kitchen meets all legislated hygiene and health and safety requirements
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- A resilient and can-do nature
- A positive and non-judgmental manner interacting with people from all walks of life
- Experience in hospitality, customer service and/or community services highly regarded
- Knowledge of food safety standards
- Willingness to work agreed rostered hours. Flexibility to accept changes in rostered hours highly regarded
- Strong interpersonal and administrative skills
Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful:
- Valid Queensland Driver's License with no restrictions, and own reliable transport
- QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
- Licensed Care Service Suitability Check (LCS2)
- National Criminal History Check (a new check will be conducted through IFYS systems)
- Food Safe Handling Certificate
